and a new website

I took a little break in December. But I am still here. I have been working on a new site that combines me and my wife’s photography. You can check it out here. www.ourlittlestudio.comNot much to look at yet, but there will be.
We have also upgraded our photocart. Lots of new features. Check it out here.
We are looking forward to a great 2009. We hope you all have a happy new year and look forward to speaking with many past, and new clients!
Are you thinking of impressing your guests. Well this is the way to do it. have them sign a custom signature book with images from your engagement session. Each book is custom designed with your images. The dimensions are 6×9. This is a really HOT item.

I am seeking a creative family for a portrait. This will not be a typical portrait but an elaborate scene that I have visioned. This will be guaranteed wall print material. Heres what I need.
1. A large family, 9-13 people
2. No children under 11 years old.
3. You must be willing to take direction and be posed.
4. It may be cold, you will have to hang in there
.5. It will be at a location of my choice.
6. I don’t care who is included, aunts uncles, brothers, sisters.
7. You all must be family.
8. Must have fun.
And always remember, just because you do not know what I’m doing does not mean I don’t.
If you are interested please send me an email at Travis@theperfectpose dot com
Only one family will be selected.
These are some of my favorite photos I have ever taken.

Neal and Kristy’s wedding was like whoa

I thought I would put up a little more than the normal 3 images per wedding.

Well, at a recent wedding one of the worst things that could happen did. The guests were seated, the bride was waiting to walk down the isle. The groom was nervously waiting in the back room ready to see his bride. But wait… where the heck is the officiant? Thats right, he was a no show. How can you have a wedding ceremony with out someone to preform it? Well, you can’t. So needless to say there was a HUGE problem. Luckily for everyone within a 5 mile radius the bride handled the situation amazingly! She was very calm and collected. We started making calls to trying to find an officiant, last minute, on a Sunday evening. It wasn’t going very well. So they decided to do the whole wedding thing in reverse. So about halfway through the reception an officiant showed and preformed the ceremony. But, wow, luck was really on their side that day. I don’t know how they found one, but they did. The ceremony was performed and everything was fine. But things could have went worse. Way worse. So thats when I decided to become an official ordained minister. I can legally now perform a wedding ceremony that is recognized by the state! So we will never have to worry about a minister not showing up. Because I will be there. Reverend Travis Hill.
By the way, this is not the secret.
So I came up with an idea today. It is kind of a secret right now. I have emailed it to all of my past portrait clients. An I will be announcing it within the next week or so. It is a pretty big deal. So keep checking back for more info.
Hi everyone, today I sent out our first official newsletter. I sent it out to a little over 400 people. So far 110 people opened the it, and 2 people reported it as spam. (they don’t know what they are missing) I am going to send them out only once a month, so I am not trying to flood your inbox with useless garbage. I work all month on trying to deliver useful information that you can use. I am also going to offer special deals and highlighted weddings. (one that you may have attended) I may even mention you! I am thinking about putting in a guys section. Since I am a guy, I know allot about guy stuff. I have a pretty big network of people I talk to and I am always hearing the latest and greatest. So hopefully you will find my monthly newsletter helpful and informative! If you would like to be added to the list just send me an email. travis@theperfectpose.com
Thanks everyone!
Travis

I have been using Lightroom 2.0 beta for some time now. I have just downloaded the full version and all I can say is wow. Adobe has out done themselves this time.
Some features I like the most.
Features I like the least
Overall this is a great program. Adobe may have shot themselves in the foot with this one though. I see no real need to use photoshop, except for very advanced editing operations.
I have been thinking about what photography means to me. I have come to realize, I am not just a photographer - I am a storyteller. Not only am I hired to photograph an event, I am hired to help my clients re-live a certain moment in their lives. How can this be done with still photographs? I have 1/1000th of a second to capture emotion, love, happiness, and for some the most important split second of their lives. This is not a task that I take lightly. I am honored to be selected for such an important moment in someone’s life. This post is dedicated to all past, present, and future clients.
Thank You, for letting me be a part of your most precious moment.Travis Hill - Storyteller
